2018 TechFest - Volunteers Needed
Dayton/Miami Valley 2018 TechFestTM - 16th Annual
Dates: Saturday, February 17, 2018 10 AM – 6 PM and Sunday, February 18, 2018 11 AM – 5 PM
Location: Sinclair Community College, 301 West Fourth Street (Address for GPS Setting), Building 12, Dayton Ohio 45402 (no cost for admission or parking)
TechFest is free family fun with STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) for grades K-12. Explore 70 + hands-on experiences with STEM exhibits, demonstrations, and games facilitated by engaging professionals involved in STEM. Interact with “info-tainment” speakers on STEM topics, such as an outstanding college chemistry professor, a classical guitar player (who demonstrates the science behind music), a retired math teacher who presents a magic show, and others who deliver entertaining and informative messages on STEM.
Since before TechFest, the Dayton/Miami Valley Chapter of PMI has supported and facilitated support for the Affiliate Societies Council to provide youth career exploration experiences. Now known as TechFest, Free Family Fun with STEM is entering its 18th year. Throughout the years, approximately 35,000 youth have participated. Support by the PMI members have enabled practicing engineers, scientists, and those related to STEM to provide hands-on experiments and demonstrations plus deliver info-tainment presentations to youth and their families.
Ways to Get Involved with TechFest: 1) Participate in Tech Fest with your youth, grandkids, neighbor kids, nieces and nephews, and the like. You can make a day out of it and plan 3 hours or more in order to interact with all of the activities. 2) Invite youth of friends, co-workers, organization members (social, fraternal, professional, etc.) to experience TechFest. 3) Volunteer by contributing time to make TechFest successful and enhance participants’ experience.
Ways to Volunteer:
All contributions completed will be presented with evidence of participation and evidence for professional development credits. Below is a list of volunteer opportunities --
