Hello Fellow Dayton PMI Members!
I am pleased to announce that we have had a successful beginning of the year with rich events and high attendance in the events. For the first time in Dayton PMI, we brought chapter strategy to our members directly through a brainstorming and feedback session in February. At the strategy session, we had over 40 members attend and provide great ideas and solutions to several of chapter improvements. Based on these ideas the board members implemented some quick hits and are working on the long term changes as well! Some of the ideas you will see implemented are:
- Started a member story section to share our experiences and get to know each other at every chapter meeting
- Increased time for networking at chapter dinners, and a quick follow-up via survey
- Created better visibility for mission of the chapter and the tactical plan for 2017
- Brought back our very well liked newsletter as a communication channel
- Established clear volunteer expectations and responsibilities marketed via emails
- Published all 2017 events on our website at the beginning of the year to facilitate better planning
We have received some great feedback from you for the events so far this year. Here are a couple verbatims:
“I think the Chapter Mission is very well thought out.”
“This was a great way to kick off the year. I like the idea of members presenting at the dinner meetings, and working to establish relationships so the members feel empowered to reach out to PMI peers when they encounter challenges in their PM work. Maybe we could set up pairs of mentors if there is a desire?”
“I love hearing about the diversity in the project management world, the networking, and the opportunity to broaden my PM horizons!”
I am excited to say that our second quarter of 2017 is starting look even better than the first. In April, we will bring two events to you – our chapter meeting with UD students presenting their capstone project – last year this event was heavily attended and enjoyed by everyone. And our first networking event for 2017 on 4/25, which is exclusively geared to networking with each other and learning from experiences our members have. These events are a direct result of your feedback, we know that our members need more time and forums for networking in an informal environment.
To register for either of the April events or any other events through the year, please visit events section of our website. I am looking forward to seeing you at as many of the events as you can attend and hearing from you via surveys or direct emails to me! We want to have your Dayton Chapter of PMI provide great value and robust events to you this year and going forward!
